Prahy. The Master thesis is divided into two parts, namely the theoretical one and the practical one. The theoretical part explains the basic concepts of the deteriorating impact of heat islands in urban areas (with a focus on the capital city of Prague), which is closely associated with poor rainwater management and excessive greenhouse gas emissions. It outlines a list of applicable alternatives for reducing the impacts of the issue at both the local and global scale. In the practical part, each biotope displaying urban heat island problems is described in detail, and an effort is made to propose realistically feasible solutions. Furthermore, a general methodology is developed for assessing these problems, offering a variable choice among a range of potential scenarios and providing numerical and graphical representation of the differences in the addressed conditions between the current and proposed conditions, including its experimental application for a specific affected area within the city of Prague.
