This Master's thesis is focused on the deformation analysis of acetabular component used in hip replacement. For a closer acquaintance with the given issue, first chapters are devoted to the theoretical foundations. These chapters provides a basic description of the anatomy of the hip joint and hip arthroplasty, including indications leading to a surgery. This work includes technologies for hip joint replacement and an overview of currently used implants. The second part of the thesis describes experimental measurements in the laboratory of biomechanics and biomaterial engineering at the Faculty of Civil engineering, Czech technical university in Prague. During these measurements, deformation tests for acetabular shells using pneumatic press and optical correlation method were performed. The practical part also includes a numerical solution using finite element method. Finally, the deformation results of individual test methods are compared.
