Právě ztvárnění obálky a vnitřní řešení bývá předmětem památkové ochrany. Development of technology at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries is closely linked to the development and use of electricity. Its linked mainly with power plants, substations and transformer stations which are the subject of this research. Electricity generation in the Czech Republic and especially in Prague was started in the first local direct current power plants under the leadership of Frantisek Krizik. After the establishment of the central Holesovice power plant in Prague, it was necessary to distribute a large amount of electricity throughout the city. Therefore, the peak of distribution stations is in the time of the First Republic. What exactly are distribution stations? Included are objects and buildings of transformer stations, substations and power converter rooms. Shell (i.e. outer construction) of these technologies is often the same for all types of distribution stations. The actual shell and interior design are subject to monument protection. The buildings are build in the spirit of historicism, but we can also find modernist or other ones that take over elements of the functionalist style or they are purely functionalist. At present, some of the power plants and distribution buildings are still functional but some are deteriorating while others have found new uses. This research shows possible procedures, instructions and experience of how to deal with these monuments from an architectural point of view. Based on this, a conclusion is formed that the demolition of the building is completely extreme solution. Suitable adaptation on the other hand is very beneficial and further reflected in the positive effect on the local economy. With demolition of the buildings the area loses interesting elements of the architectural layer formed by the boom of electrification.
