This master thesis provides a feasibility study of the reduction gearbox for the turboprop H80 engine produced by GE AC. Purpose of this new engine is for turboshaft applications, so this thesis aims to the requirements for engine integration into the rotorcraft. A first step in the process is a survey as an introduction into differences between turboprop and turboshaft engines for both one and two engine rotorcraft applications. Only engines with alike shaft horsepower are gathered and on the basis of this research, which provides sufficient insight on the operational costs and engines performances, suitable helicopter for integration is chosen. Core of this work is a first insight into design process of turboshaft reduction gearbox with no influence on the compressor, turbines or combustion chamber and its integration with the engine H80. Most critical parts of whole design are analysed, loads applied and safeties against fatigue verified. Last chapter focuses on the modification of the engine oil system.
