The bachelor's thesis deals with the subject of transfusions, post-transfusion reactions and complications. Despite all efforts to reduce transfusions to a minimum and thus cutting down possible reactions associated with them, there are situations where the administration of transfusion products is irreplaceable and lifesaving. The first half of the theoretical part of this bachelor's thesis briefly describes the field of immunohaematology, which combines immunology and haematology. The basic principles of the human immune system along with the issue of blood groups and their compatibility are explained here. The second half of the theoretical part is focused on individual transfusion products, indications and contraindications of hemotherapy, as well as post-transfusion reactions and complications. Furthermore, nursing care when administering a transfusion is described here, also in the case of a post-transfusion reaction. The practical part deals with the knowledge of other medical staff than doctors in the field of transfusions, post-transfusion reactions, and care for patients with post-transfusion reactions. These data were obtained using a questionnaire survey. The respondents were divided into two groups according to the type of inpatient care they are employed in - standard and intensive acute inpatient care. The results are presented using charts and tables within this thesis. The data obtained imply that the respondents working in the intensive acute inpatient care ward have better knowledge in this field.
