This thesis describes the processing of several modified cement paste mixtures using nano-SiO2 to affect the physical and engineering properties. Specifically, it deals with the improvement of the microstructure of cement paste and the change of its volume representations of individual phases. The thesis thoroughly describes the production of samples with different ratios of cement and nano-SiO2, their storage and processing. The thesis also describes the examination of samples using advanced experimental methods such as electron microscopy or nanoindentation. The samples are examined mainly globally for a representative volume of samples, where each of the samples is subjected to image analysis and statistical nanoindentation. Emphasis is also placed on local analysis, more specifically on the agglomerates of particles in the form of reacted nano-SiO2, which form new CSH gels. It has been found that CSH particle agglomerates disperse over time and reduce in size by about half. Subsequently, a statistical study and an extensive discussion are prepared in the work. The results of experiments are compared, and it has been found that the addition of nano-SiO2 has an effect on the hydration and microstructure of the cement paste and thus on its phase volume. The image analysis and nanoindentation show that replacing the cement weight with 4.5% nano-SiO2 increases the CSH phases of the mature samples by approximately 8%. The increase in CSH phases was accompanied by a decrease in CH phases by approximately 6%. Changes in individual phases were recorded not only in mature samples, but also in samples at the early age of hydration, where a 9% increase in CSH phases is recorded with a simultaneous decrease in CH phases by 8%. Nanoindentation and image analysis thus confirmed the increase in CSH, which is the main component of cement composites.
