| cze |
dc.description.abstract | In winter avalanches are a major danger to all mountain visitors. The main cause of all deaths due to avalanches is suffocation under the snow due to decreased gas exchange. The aim of this work is to analyze the processes by which the body reacts to these extreme conditions in terms of breathing parameters. The analysis was carried out using algorithms created for this purpose, which were then applied on data from experiments in a simulated avalanche snow. The measured data were obtained from 13 volunteers who were breathing into a test circuit in three variants of material working as avalanche snow (snow, wet perlite and dry perlite). Results of this analysis were then statistically evaluated. The main finding was that the first parameter to respond to these extreme conditions was the ratio of inspirium and exspirium, next it was the airway pressure and tidal volume (both started to increase) and the last one started to increase the respiratory rate, as a mechanism compensating for hypercapnia. Also, pearlite has proven to be an acceptable substitute of snow for laboratory experiments due to similar gas permeability. By adjusting the moisture of pearlite, the similarity with snow improves to nearly perfect state. | eng |
