Abstract

This thesis is dedicated to the development of calibration methods for three advanced constitutive models of soils, namely elastoplastic Cam-Clay model, Von Wolersdo's hypoplastic model to coarse grained soils and Masin's hypoplastic model for ne grained soils. Corresponding constitutive equations and recommended calibration methods for their parameters identication are thoroughly described. Following the results of a sensitivity analysis which was performed on the models parameters, a development of a calibration software ExCalibre is described. The calibration software determines the models parameters on the basis of compression and triaxial laboratory experiments. Subsequently, the correlation analysis is performed for hypoplastic models to establish the link between the models parameters and soil properties. The thesis is concluded with an implementation of the hypoplastic sand model into the GEO5 FEM software.
