The thesis outlines problems of data analysis using community detection methods in complex networks. Selected methods of detecting non-overlapping and overlapping communities on unipartite graphs, as well as on the bipartite ones, are described. The contribution of this work is, among other things, the unification of formalism, in which selected methods of community detection are introduced. Both their common features and diťferences emerge. The first part of the thesis presents communities on graphs and their detection following the classical concept, as a disjoint subset of data. Subsequently, the thesis deals with methods of detecting communities with overlaps where the data object can be a member of multiple communities. At the end of the research section, the methods of classical community detection are expanded and adapted for use on bipartite graphs. The theoretical introduction is followed by the experimental part in which the methods are compared when applied to synthetic data.
