This bachelor thesis deals with the influence of vitamin D on the course of pregnancy and bone metabolism in women of fertile age. The theoretical part is focused on vitamin D it's forms, metabolism and deficiencies. It describes the ideal marker (25-OHD) of vitamin D level in the blood, this marker corresponds with the storage form of vitamin D in the human organism. The text summarizes informations about the range of this indicator in the blood. Attention is also paid to the active form of vitamin D (calcitriol) - it's function and metabolism, as well as to the factors influencing it's action, and the bone metabolism associated with vitamin D. The thesis also deals with the effect of vitamin D on fertility and the development of possible complications during pregnancy, mainly due to it's insufficient level in the mother's organism. The possibility of supplementation in case of vitamin D deficiency is discussed as well. The practical part summarizes the possibilities of determination of blood 25-OHD level. The greatest attention is paid to method Abbott Architect. The values of 25-OHD are measured in private laboratory Synlab czech s.r.o. The measured levels of 25-OHD collected from women in fertile age in the period between years 2013-2016 are compared with the statistical data of fertility. In the monitored period, 74,88 % of women of fertile age were found to have a 25-OHD level lower thanthe physiological value. The growing trend of the number of measurements of 25-OHD levels with increasing age and over the last three years was monitored as well.
