The thesis addresses the issue of wooden beam ends in peripheral walls with applied internal insulation. The first part of the thesis involves a theoretical analysis of the respective problem and a brief overview of the current findings in this area. The main body of the thesis is constituted of descriptive statistics of measured details from the area of beam pockets monitored at the testing exterior wall of the University Center for Energy Efficient Buildings of the Czech Technical University in Prague. The thesis evaluates data from the period of March 2015 to October 2017. In the following section, the load of the tested exterior wall by wind driven rain is calculated from the measured data during the observed period. Subsequently, the thesis examines the effect of this wind driven rain on the change of humidity conditions in beam pockets. Furthermore, it examines the effect of intensive artificial spraying on the testing wall during summer 2017. The last chapter of the research focuses on the composition of a conservative computational model of wooden beam ends in CUBE 3D software. The actual scenario of one of the monitored beam ends on the testing wall of UCEEB is used as the basis. Using this model, various measures for improving hydrothermal conditions of beam pockets are analysed.
