Návrh a ověření prototypu mobilní aplikace pro nově diagnostikované dětské pacienty s diabetem 1. typu a jejich pečující osoby

Abstract

Cílem práce bylo seznámit se s onemocněním diabetes mellitus 1. typu (DM1T) a se způsoby jeho managementu, provést analýzu potřeb dětí s nově diagnostikovaným onemocněním DM1T a jejich pečujících osob. Na základě analýzy následně vytvořit prototyp mobilní aplikace a tento návrh validovat s potenciálními uživateli. Práce se nejprve zabývá komplexním popisem problematiky DM1T, včetně charakteristiky onemocnění a možných komplikací. Následně je provedena hloubková analýza specifických potřeb dětí s nově diagnostikovaným DM1T a jejich pečujících osob v oblasti edukace, podpory a každodenní péče. Analýza vychází z informací z internetových a knižních zdrojů, konferencí, rozhovorů, ale i z přímé praxe v dětské diabetologické ambulanci. Všechny tyto zdroje potvrdily, že v oblasti aplikací pro pacienty s DM1T je neuspokojená poptávka a značný prostor pro zlepšení. Na základě zjištěných potřeb byl navržen a vytvořen prototyp mobilní aplikace. Návrh prototypu obsahuje statistiky týkající se onemocnění, bolusový kalkulátor, databázi potravin s obousměrným sacharidovým kalkulátorem, edukační portál a mnoho dalších funkcí. Prototyp mobilní aplikace byl kvantitativně i kvalitativně testován cílovou skupinou pacientů a pečujících osob, čímž se ověřila funkčnost, užitečnost a relevance pro danou problematiku. Výsledky testování ukázaly, že navrhovaná aplikace má potenciál usnadnit pacientům s DM1T zvládání jejich onemocnění a zlepšit jejich každodenní život.

The aim of this thesis was to gain a comprehensive understanding of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and its management strategies, to conduct an in-depth analysis of the needs of newly diagnosed children with T1DM and their caregivers, and based on the findings to design and validate a prototype of the mobile application with potential users. The thesis first provides a comprehensive description of T1DM, including the characteristics of the disease and possible complications. Subsequently, an in-depth analysis is conducted regarding to the specific needs of children newly diagnosed with T1DM and their caregivers in the areas of education, support, and daily care. The analysis is based on information from online and book resources, conferences, interviews, and direct experience in a pediatric diabetes clinic. Based on the identified needs, a prototype of a mobile application was designed and developed, which includes disease-related statistics, a bolus calculator, a food database with bidirectional carbohydrate calculator, an educational portal, and many other features. The prototype of the mobile application was quantitatively and qualitatively tested with the target group of patients and caregivers, verifying its functionality, utility, and relevance to the issue at hand. The results of the testing showed that the application has the potential to facilitate the management of T1DM for patients and improve their daily lives.
