This thesis deals with the analysis of the modernization and transformation of the biogas plant in Slatiny pod Hazmburkem. The plant is primarily focused on the production and sale of electricity and has been designed to produce enough biogas for the effective supply of a cogeneration unit with a capacity of 1 MWe. However, due to the insufficient capacity of the distribution network, it can only supply electricity to the grid with a maximum capacity of 550 kWe. This work aims to find a suitable solution while adhering to the current limitations. The thesis first introduces the basic theoretical knowledge associated with biogas plants and provides an overview of the history and current state of biogas and biomethane plants worldwide and in the Czech Republic, including key strategic documents for the development of biogas plants in the Czech Republic. This is followed by a section devoted to the analysis of possible solutions to the given problem. The outcome of this work is the identification of the most suitable solution, along with determining the minimum price of the output product, at which equivalence with the zero variant would be achieved, serving as a reference point for comparison. Two variants appear to be the most suitable solutions, both involving an increase in biogas production, which is then converted into biomethane using membrane separation. This biomethane is either injected into the gas system or compressed into modified container units for further distribution. The analysis results indicate compression of biomethane as the preferred option; however, these findings may be significantly influenced by the level of subsidy for investment expenses.
