dc.description.abstract | The bachelor thesis addresses applicability of biometric user authentication to improve computer security in healthcare facilities and focuses on both the biometric methods themselves as well as their implementation in healthcare facilities. The theoretical part is devoted to technical information on biometric authentication, its history, classification of 10 different biometric methods and their introduction and description. It also describes what the abbreviations FAR, FRR and EER mean and their importance in assessing the reliability of biometric methods. The practical part of the bachelor's thesis contains first an overview of the current state of computer security in hospitals performed by a questionnaire survey in which 80 healthcare facilities participated. The findings obtained from the questionnaire are further used to propose security improvements. The bachelor thesis also contains an analysis of selected biometric methods regarding their accuracy, user-friendliness and difficulties in their implementation. This section subsequently analyses selection of appropriate biometric methods based on the needs of healthcare facilities. Finally, the paper concludes with a proposed solution to improve current security state and its implementation in a healthcare facility. | cze |
