The thesis focuses on the modeling of diffusion of components in a multicomponent mixture using the Maxwell-Stefan theory. The first chapter includes the physical and mathematical description of the problem. The outcome of this chapter is a system of partial differential equations. Then follows the second chapter, in which we discretize the equations by using the finite-difference method. For the special case of a three component mixture, we mention the stability conditions for the numerical scheme. At the end of the second chapter the implemented algorithm is thoroughly described. The algorithm is tested on some practical problems. At first, the two component mixture case is studied, for which we also perform the convergence analysis. Then follows the three component mixture case.
