The bachelor project focuses on the numerical solution of the Richards' equation using the method of outer and inner iterations, followed by an analysis of the convergence of this method. In the first chapter, the Richards' equation is derived from Darcy's law and the conservation of mass. The second chapter describes the method of outer and inner iterations and its algorithm. The algorithm is implemented using the C++. The algorithm is tested on problems taken over from the literature. Furthermore, an experimental convergence analysis is performed, along with a comparison to the Newton's method, a study of the influence of the time step size on the convergence of nonlinear solution.
