This bachelor thesis deals with the reconstruction of a concrete cross section using neural networks as a classification tool. The chapter 1 briefly describes the term artificial intelligence, its current development and a summary of the materials research methods currently utilized for the reconstruction of material morphology. Chapter 2 explains the principle of neural networks used for data classification, different types of network layers, and the effect of their hyper-parameters on the training and testing efficenecy of the model. Furthermore, this chapter describes the statistical and physical descriptors served as error measures of reconstructions algorithms. The last chapter deals with the actual reconstruction of the concrete sample. It describes how to find the optimal model architecture, and the result of reconstruction obtained for the best model.
