This bachelor thesis dedicates issues of painful menstruation and the possibilities of physiotherapy in this field. The main aim of the thesis is to evaluate a benefit of a ten weeklong therapy and to compare two different types of therapy for active athletes suffering from dysmenorrhea. Another aim is to confront the efficacy of the therapy for athletes to the therapy for ordinary population. Two ensembles took part in this research. Each of them included five athletes at the age 18-29 suffering from dysmenorrhea. The first ensemble (N=5) participated in a ten weeklong therapy using the method Acral coactivation therapy (ACT), while the second ensemble (N=5) followed the method of Ludmila Mojžíšová. The therapy was combined with soft techniques, mobilization and flat feet exercise. The data were collected through a standardized Menstrual Symptom Questionnaire (MSQ) and visual analog scale (VAS). All participants were also examined by a physiotherapist. All the measurements and examination were hold before and after the therapy. From the results we can see a positive impact of the ten weeklong therapies on painful menstruation by active athletes. The results show bigger impact of Ludmila Mojžíšová’s method on the dysmenorrhea symptoms. The method ACT showed positive results as well, only not that significant. In comparison to the ordinary population, there were not found any specific differences of the impact of therapy by active athletes. This was compared in the discussion of the thesis to other studies.
