Urbánní forma a fraktavní uspořádání města

Abstract

Tato práce hovoří o celku města a jeho fyzické formě - zástavbě a prostoru.Ukazuje, jak se tento celek a jeho části mohou chovat jako fraktálu- blízké struktury. Práce spojuje dva přístupy. V první řadě přístup matematický, který umožňuje ze struktury abstrahovat projevy fraktálního chvoání. K tomu využívá počítačové algoritmy schopné analyzovat rozsáhlá data o městě - histogram a mřížkovou metodu odhadu fraktální dimenze. Jejich výsledky jsou pak uvedeny do kontextu znalostí o daném městě, urbánní formě a procesu jejich utváření, schopnosti město "číst|". Bez nich by výsledky byly pouhými čísly. V druhé řadě práce užívá přístupu empirického , až intuitivního, který umožňuje komunikovat tento fenomén v užitečnější rovině pro urbanistickou praxi. A stanovit další otázky k výzkumu i předpoklady cenné pro uvažování o fraktálu při navrhování a zásahu do struktury města. Na příkladu dvanácti měst ČR disertace ukazuje, jak jsme se s nástupem modernistického plánování odvrátili od "přirozeného" fraktálu-blízkého způsobu utváření města odvozeného od měřítka člověka. A dále jaké rozdíly jsou mezi konkrétními formami a jak různě se může projevovat fyzický fraktál celého města. V neposlední řadě práce poukazuje i na to, jak nebezpečné může navrhování pouze podle čísla být. A jakým jiným způsobem nám může uvažování v intencích fraktálu pomoci v naší praxi.

This dissertation speaks about the city as a whole and its physical form of builtand open space. It shows how can this whole and its parts behave as fractal-like structures. Thesis combines two approaches. Firstly, a mathematical approach, which allows to abstract the manifestation of fractal behavior from the structure. For this it uses computer algorithms capable of analysing wast city data - a histogram and a box-countint method estimating the fractal dimension. Their results are confronted with the contestual knowledge of a particular city, urban pattern and the processes of their evolution, the ability to "read" the city. Without that the results would be mere numbers. Secondly, this work uses an empirical even intuitive approach, which allows to communicate this phenomenon on a more useful level for urban practice. And to pose further questions and assuptions valuable for thinking about a fractal in design and intervention within the city structure. This thesis shows on the example of twelve cities in the Czech Republic how, with the emergence of modernist planning, we have lost the ability to "naturally" create fractal-like city derrived from the human scale. But also what differences are between specific paterns and how different can be the physical fractal of a specific city. Lastly, this work speaks about how dangerous it can be to design only by a number. And in what other way can the fractal mindset help us in our practice.
