The aim of this bachelor thesis is to familiarize with both the Laplace equation and its non-homogeneous equivalent, the Poisson equation and to search for their solutions using the Fourier method. Another aim of this work is to show the correctness of derived solutions and to assess the suitability of their use. The theoretical part is divided into three parts. There is a section dealing with partial differential equations in general, a part devoted to Fourier series and a part dealing with numerical methods. The practical part deals with the solution of Laplace and Poisson equation by Fourier method, which is then compared to numerical method solution. Finally, real applications of Laplace and Poisson equations are presented.
