Disertační práce vytváří srozumitelnou ilustraci nového využití a přizpůsobení průmyslových staveb a staveb dopravní a technické infrastruktury. This dissertation thesis seeks a comprehensive illustration of adaptation and conversion issues of special industrial and engineering structures. The work identified this particular part of the building fund, characterized by its original purpose and its volumetric properties. On the theoretical basis, the buildings were introduced: the historical and social circumstances that led to the emergence of industrial buildings of the specialists were illuminated and consequently led to their abandonment; their position in the area of care for cultural and historical heritage and industrial heritage in general; the development of the discipline of adaptations of industrial buildings and the concretization of this design sector on special industrial buildings. Savory text is complemented by a summary of references to professional literature. The phenomena of adaptation and adaptability of buildings, including their impact on sustainability and the continuity of the construction industry, have been described in general. The adaptability and potential of special industrial and engineering buildings are the subject of further research: Subsequently, an entirely new systematization and taxonomy of this part of the construction production was created. Because the forms of special industrial and engineering structures are defined by their original function, the resulting volumes are characteristic of the given industries, yet they can find connections between them. In considering the connections in the morphology of buildings, the connection between the nomenclature of special industrial and engineering constructions and the biological taxonomy, which also names and classifies the animals according to the structure of their bodies, has been found. The division depending on the volume characteristics - volumetry of the buildings - consists of the provision of five volume types. Machines, Vessels, Works in landscape, Line, Special and gigantic volumes. In order to advance my research, I have undertaken extensive research done by adapting special industrial and engineering structures. The result is a set of 118 reference project medallions across all bulk types. Each of the projects was presented and evaluated from many angles of view - it gradually crystallized the main aspects of the characteristics of the original objects and their influence on the future adaptation and the quality of its outcome. The projects, including a brief summary of the assessed characteristics, are listed in the Reference Projects Table, which is an annex to the dissertation work.In a case study that analyzes these 118 cases from many angles, I deal more closely with the original industries - I try to briefly introduce them and summarize them in such a way that the reader understands the context between the original designation and the form of industrial remains. The generalization of knowledge resulting from the understanding of the original operation (technological flow) and the conditions of industrial buildings, the familiarization of typologically related structures, and the discovery of typical approaches to solving their adaptations makes it easier to understand the specific potential of these buildings, to avoid inappropriate intentions or solutions, testimonies.
