Odborná znalost anglického jazyka v práci zdravotnického záchranáře

Abstract

Předmětem bakalářské práce je znalost anglického jazyka v práci zdravotnického záchranáře na Zdravotnických záchranných službách (dále jen ZZS) v České republice (dále jen ČR). Práce je zaměřena především na komunikaci zdravotnického záchranáře s anglicky mluvícím pacientem v průběhu přednemocniční péče (dále jen PNP). Teoretická část pojednává o legislativě spojené s prací a studiem zdravotnického záchranáře, o výuce anglického jazyka ve zdravotnických oborech vysokých a vyšších odborných škol v ČR, a také o komunikaci, která je důležitá jak v PNP, tak i v nemocniční péči a v celém zdravotnictví. V praktické části práce byla k dosažení cílů použita metoda dotazníkového šetření. Výsledky dotazníků jsou prezentovány formou grafů. Práce ukázala, že více než polovina zdravotnických záchranářů je schopna se domluvit s anglicky mluvícím pacientem pomocí jednoduchých vět. Výsledky dotazníkového šetření poukazují i na to, že by respondenty motivoval finanční příspěvek od zaměstnavatele, který by zajistil zlepšení znalosti anglického jazyka.

The subject matter of this bachelor thesis is the knowledge of English language while performing the duties of a paramedic employed by the Emergency Medical Services in Czech Republic. The thesis is mainly focusing on the communication between the paramedic and an English-speaking patient during the pre-hospital care. The theoretical part deals with the legislation related to the work and education of paramedics and with the study of English language at various medical fields of study at universities and Colleges of Higher Education. Furthermore, it also focuses on communication as such which is a significant element during the pre-hospital care as well as in the hospital and health care. In order to achieve the goals of the practical part, the questionnaire method of survey was used. The results of the survey are presented in the form of graphs. The work has shown that more than half of paramedics are able to speak with an English-speaking patient using simple sentences. The information gathered and the consequent findings show that respondents would be more motivated by financial contribution from the employer, which would as a result secure better knowledge of English language.
