UNIVERZITNÍ KNIHOVNA V OLOMOUCI

Abstract

Diplomová práce se zabývá projektem nové univerzitní knihovny v Olomouci. Navrhovaná studie zkoumá možnou zastavitelnost dnešní prázdné parcely - parkoviště a jeho bezprostředního okolí v blízkosti městského centra.Na řešeném území dříve stála Olomoucká synagoga a později budovatelská socha Stalina a Lenina. Projekt univerzitní knihovny dává místu nový smysl a náplň. Důraz je kladen na veřejný prostor v atriu budovy a zapojení nevyužité barokní brány - rudimentu historického opevnění.

This Master's thesis is concerned with a project of a new university library in Olomouc. This design proposal examines the suitability of an empty lot - now an outdoor car park located just outside the historical city centre - to be built up. This place has a considerable historical value as there used to stand a synagogue which was burnt down and later replaced with a Socialist realist statue of Stalin and Lenin. The university library provides this place with a new function and purpose as the design focuses on the new accessible public space in the building's atrium and the building's relation with the nearby baroque gate - a historical rudiment of the fortification.
