This diploma thesis deals with an investigation of micromechanical properties of UHMWPE using the nanoscale dynamic mechanical analysis. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate measured data using an extended analytical model. In the theoretical part the material (UHMWPE) is described, the concept of viscoelasticity is discussed together with basic rheological models and the performed research of the nanoindentation of viscoelastic materials is briefly summarized. Furthermore, a conventional and an extended model used for the evaluation of the nanoscale dynamic mechanical analysis is presented. The practical part contains the description of the experimental measurement performed on UHMWPE, the resulting storage modulus and loss modulus obtained using both the conventional and the extended model, and a discussion of the results obtained from the extended model.
