This bachelor thesis deals with current sources used as power supplies in electronics. There is a comparison in the introduction describing main dierencies of linear and switch mode power supplies in terms of function principles and electrical parameters. The main focus of this thesis is to describe switch mode power supplies. Voltage and current sources are very similiar in their structure, the only dierence is in the regulation loop. That is why further in the text there is no label as to whether the scheme is a voltage or current source. Instead, more attention is brought to the theory of operation of such power supplies. The goal of this thesis is not only to provide an overview of basic topologies with their pros and cons, but also to explain the component selection criteria and how a component can aect the electrical parameters of a power supply. The second part of this thesis describes a complete design of a functional prototype with parameters mentioned in the thesis assingment. The prototype is a DC/DC non isolated digitally controlled power supply using a microcontroller.
