Proton therapy is characterized by the deposition of the most of its energy inside the patient within the Bragg peak. Compared to the photon therapy, better irradiation of the tumor can be reached while sparing the healthy surrounding tissue. Due to the sensitivity of the location of the Bragg peak in the patient, it is necessary to check the dose distribution before the treatment using dosimetric devices and also to verify the dose distribution directly in the patient using in-vivo dosimetry. Nowadays several in-vivo methods are utilized, such on-line or in-beam monitoring or off-line verification. The most used device is the positron emission tomography (PET): others are for the detection of prompt-gamma imaging or magnetic resonance imaging. Less used devices are MOSFET or termoluminescen detectors. Analysing the information from these detectors and combining them with the patient?s anatomy, it is possible to control the position of the dose (dose distribution). This paper deals with analytical evaluation of volume activity of positron-emitters and consequent comparison with experimental results provided by diagnostic PET/CT.
