This project focuses on reconstructing a primary school located in Prague 6, under the ownership of the Municipality of Prague 6. The original school site included two separate buildings serving as a canteen and a gymnasium. As a part of the reconstruction, these structures were completely demolished and replaced with entirely new buildings designed in functionalist forms, which complement the overall aesthetic. In the main building, the goal was to preserve as much of the original structure as possible. The majority of the existing wall separations were retained, and an additional floor was added to accommodate the needs of the students of this school. While the façade was refreshed with a new color, the window opening remained largely unchanged, maintaining the building’s original aesthetic. To enhance sustainability, green roofs were incorporated into the new buildings. Additionally, the roof of the main building was equipped with solar panels, further emphasizing the commitment to eco-friendly design. The integration of the new functionalist-style canteen and gym with the preserved main building, creates a cohesive appearance, blending modern functionality with the school’s traditional form.
