This work focuses on the analysis and optimization of energy-efficient motion of a battery-powered robot. The aim is to verify the assumption of the dependency of the duration of motion on the consumed energy and to create a model of a robotic system that does not include energy recuperation back into the battery. The work formulates energy-optimal control of robot motion, which minimizes the consumed energy while achieving the desired goal. The main task is to solve the optimal control problem, considering the physical limitations of the robot and the battery. The application of the Pontryagin’s minimum principle leads to finding a bang-bang control, which is compared to the optimal control obtained using genetic algorithms.
