Srovnání simulací s měřenými mízními toky potvrdilo izohydrický charakter hospodaření s vodou v případě smrků a anizohydrický charakter u buků. Kromě objemu srážek a odtoku z povodí byly kvantifikovány transpirace, intercepční ztráta a sublimace sněhové pokrývky. Zohledněn byl vliv vývoje vegetačního krytu a depozice rosy. Vodní bilance povodí byla hodnocena z hlediska změny zásoby vody v povodí včetně její nejistoty. Analýza vodní bilance povodí Uhlířská naznačuje významný pokles zásoby vody v povodí během studovaného období (2000–2018). Pokles zásoby lze přičíst rostoucím zimním teplotám, kdy klesá poměr sněhových a kapalných srážek a několika letům s podprůměrnými srážkovými úhrny. The subject of this thesis is the study of hydro-ecological processes in mountain forest catchments, especially hydrological links between transpiration and soil moisture regime. A detailed examination of actual transpiration at the scale of an individual tree is presented and a generalization of this research for the purpose of quantifying water balance at the scale of catchment is introduced and applied. Actual transpiration and root water uptake of individual trees were simulated using a physically based model of soil and plant xylem water flow, S1D. Two sites with different plant water management strategies were included. Specifically, these were sites with spruce forest and beech forest in the Liz catchment in the Bohemian Forest. Comparison of simulations with measured sap flow confirmed the isohydric behavior of spruce and the anisohydric behavior of beech trees. The simulated actual transpiration of the spruce was often lower than the potential transpiration. After the hydraulic capacity of the tree was exhausted, the simulated intensity of the transpiration became limited by a critical value of approximately 0.8 cm/d. In contrast, no reduction of the potential transpiration was related with the beech forest site during the simulated period. For both sites, a significant portion of the root water uptake occurred probably in deeper parts of the soil profile. However, at the spruce site, most of the root water uptake was realized within the upper layer of the soil profile. The influence of isohydric behaviour on the transpiration of spruce forest was included in the water balance analysis of the Uhlířská catchment in the Jizera Montains, encompassing the experimental years 2000–2018. In addition to precipitation and stream discharge, actual transpiration, wet canopy evaporation, and snow sublimation were quantified. The effect of vegetation cover development and dew deposition were also considered. The water balance of the catchment was evaluated in terms of water storage changes, including the uncertainty. The analysis of the catchment water balance indicates a significant decrease in the catchment water storage during the studied period. This decrease can be attributed to rising winter temperatures associated with reduced ratio of snow to liquid precipitation, and to several years with below-average precipitation totals. Both of these factors lead to the less prominent or absent spring snowmelts, which crucially affects the process of groundwater recharge. Regarding the evaluation of the amount of water transpired by plants, the integration of knowledge on the reduction of plant transpiration related to the isohydric regulation strategy proved to be indispensable.
