The aim of the dissertation is a calculation methodology for efficient design and operation of heating systems. The subject of investigation for the determination of the calculation methodology is the effect of cooling of the heating water, and therefore the knowledge of its temperature at arbitrary points of the pipe route. The heating water temperature course in the piping route is solved for both the design state and the operating steady states under quantitative and qualitative control. In the theoretical part, the determination of heat losses of piping systems is first described. Next, a comparison is made between the simplified method of determining heating water cooling versus the detailed method for boundary conditions of conventional heating systems. For the purpose of simulations of operating conditions, the effect of heating water temperature changes on pressure drop and buoyancy is described. In the last theoretical part, the changes in the performance of heating elements based on different changes in the individual parameters of the heating system are described. The second part of the thesis is the measurement of the heating water temperature drop along the pipe route for different case studies. Here the measured values are assessed with theoretical calculations and the validation of the simulation model is performed. Furthermore, the importance of this issue is evaluated on the measured water temperature drop. The main part of the work is the calculation methodology and the simulation model developed using it for more efficient design and operation of heating systems than traditional methods. Based on the simulations of different variants of boundary conditions of control at the foot of the heating system and local control at the heating elements, the results are then analysed and conclusions are described.
