This thesis deals with methods of trajectory estimation, detection and classification of motions using data from IMU (inertial measurement unit). The purpose of this work is to develop and implement algorithms into a program with intended use in exercise equipment. The goal of the resulting program is to detect and classify several simple motions of a device equipped with integrated IMU. The intended application requires real-time operation and that utilized algorithms are independent of the relative position of the user to the device and the way the device is being held.
