This bachelor's thesis focuses on the description of the Laser shock peening process. Among the subjects of interest are its history and effect on the residual stress in the material, as well as its hardness, surface texture and fatigue life. What follows is a comparison with the shot peening process. The thesis also describes the possibilities of use in additive manufacturing to improve tensile stresses, porosity, surface texture and microstructure. The practical part of the thesis is a properties comparison of gears before and after the effects of the LSP process
