| cze |
dc.description.abstract | The objective of this thesis is the construction of a numerical model of a cell membrane in two dimensions. As a comparison for the numerical model, an analytically defined shape of a cell membrane, obtained from Helfrich theory of membrane elasticity, is used. This shape should represent the state with the lowest amount of deformation energy for given parameters. To verify this hypothesis, the analytical shape of the curve was approximated using an interpolation function, which provided an approximate shape of the curve comprised of discrete elements of equal length. Furthermore, this shape was subjected to optimization by Monte Carlo method with respect to minimizing deformation energy in order to establish whether the analytically defined shape does indeed represent the state of minimal deformation energy. It was established that a numerical model constructed in this way can indeed be used to approximate the analytical shape of a cell membrane. | eng |
