Business Intelligence - Spracovanie podnikových dát

Abstract

Cieľom tejto práce je opísať oblasť business intelligence a ukázať jej prínos pre organizácie apodniky na príklade Univerzity tretieho veku na Vysokej škole ekonomickej v Prahe. Dáta boli zbierané priamo od univerzity aich následné spracovanie a analýza bola vykonaná s využitím nástroja Power BI. Hlavným výstupom analýzy bolo zistenie, že univerzita má stabilnú študentskú základňu, ktorá jej pomohla zmierniť prepad v počte študentov v dôsledku pandémie COVID-19. Tiež ukázala, že súbor študentov nevykazoval v skúmanom období veľké výkyvy, čo sa týka demografických charakteristík. Výsledky analýzy vyvolali ďalšie otázky, predovšetkým ohľadom preferencií študentov votázkach spôsobu výuky aponuky predmetov. Získaním odpovedí na tieto otázky môže univerzita vbudúcnosti vylepšiť svoju ponuku, čím posilní lojalitu svojich stávajúcich študentov azároveň zatraktívni štúdium pre nových študentov. Vytvorením dátového modelu a jeho následným využitím pre analýzu sme ukázali ako môžu organizácie pracovať so svojimi dátami a vyvodiť z nich uchopiteľné odporúčania pre optimalizovanie ich fungovania či pre ich udržateľný rast.

This work aims to describe the field of business intelligence and show its benefits for organizations and companies. Data from the University of the Third Age at the University of Economics in Prague will be used as a practical example. Data was collected directly from the university, and the subsequent processing and analysis of the data were performed using the Power BI tool. The main output of the analysis was the finding that the university has a stable student base, which helped mitigate the drop in the number of students due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It also showed that the sample of students did not show large fluctuations in demographic characteristics during the study period. The analysis results raised further questions, especially regarding students' preferences in regards to the delivery methods and course offering. By obtaining answers to these questions, the university can improve its offer in the future, thus strengthening the loyalty of its current students and at the same time making studies more attractive for new students. By creating a data model and leveraging it for subsequent analysis, we have shown how organizations can work with their data to derive tangible recommendations and optimize its functioning or support sustainable growth.
