| cze |
dc.description.abstract | Electroencephalography (EEG) is an electrical signal of the brain measured at the top of the head which is contaminated with various graphoelements. These graphoelements overlap it, and therefore it is necessary to separate them from the record or at least identify them. One of these graphoelements is the EMG artifact, which cannot be prevented during measurement. Various methods are used for its detection or elimination, which use different approaches (artificial intelligence, iterative methods and others), including the computationally inexpensive method of Velde et al. (1998) based on threshold values in the time and frequency domain of an EEG signal. The aim of this study is the method of Velde et al. to test in its original form on a simulated EEG record and after evaluation to propose a modification of the method in the MATLAB software environment. By statistical comparison (ROC analysis) of my modified method with the original method and the k-means method, I subsequently verified that the modified method has the highest sensitivity of the tested methods to the presence of the EMG artifact, but lower specificity. However, when using the detection method as a support tool for streamlining the work of diagnostics, the most important parameter is the sensitivity of the method. In the following theses, it is necessary to test the modified method on a more robust data set and design other parameters that will allow monitoring of other graphoelements in the EEG record. | eng |
