This master thesis is dealing with the conversion of the historical building of the former "Central power plant of the Royal Capital City of Prague", located in the area of a contemporary heating plant in Prague- Holešovice. This industrial area encompasses a single-nave boiler plant, an engine plant as well as an adjacent smokestack. The thesis follows a seminar project dealing with the urbanistic conception of the area and now serves as a base for conversion and design of the adjoining piece. The new solution enables the general public to access the power plant by transforming it into a social and cultural center - theatre. The new design treats the latter building elements partly puristically, newly interprets the historical principles and attempts not to disturb the historical value of the almost 100- year old architecture. This is due to its respect towards the values and experiences of the past, which are here represented.
