NALEZENÍ IDEÁLNÍHO MÍSTA A NÁVRH BUDOVY I OKOLÍ NÁRODNÍ KNIHOVNY

Abstract

Místo a podoba nové budovy Národní knihovny je téma, které s přestávkami rezonuje laickou i odbornou veřejností již déle než 100 let. Zatím posledním momentem, který rozhýbal tyto debaty byla dodnes kontroverzní soutěž z roku 2007. Cílem tohoto diplomového projektu bylo pokusit se nabídnout jeden z možných pohledů na řešení této problematiky, tedy najít pro novou budovu Národní knihovny parcelu a podobu, která by korespondovala s významem této instituce. Zvolená forma rekonstrukce Hotelu Hilton Prague a revitalizace jeho okolí navíc v širším plánu otevírá k diskuzi otázku možnosti využití rekonstrukce staveb jako reakci na nedostatek volných parcel v centru města.

The place and appearance of the new building of the National Library is a theme that has been resonating with both lay and professional public for more than 100 years. The aim of this diploma project was to try to offer one of the possible perspectives on the solution of this issue, thus to find a plot for the new building of the National Library and the form that would correspond to the meaning of this institution. Moreover, the chosen form of the reconstruction of the Hilton Prague Hotel and the revitalization of its surroundings open up the question of the possibility of using the reconstruction of buildings as a reaction to the lack of free plots in the city center.
