The thesis deals with the creation of a numerical model and an iterative method of reconstruction of the dielectric-properties distribution in the imaged area by microwave imaging. The aim was to extend the already existing brain stroke detection algorithm to an iterative version using the Distorted Born Method and subsequently to determine the dielectric properties of the head model areas. The already existing 2D model of the human head affected by stroke was modified for the purposes of this work. In addition, the Distorted Born iterative method was implemented, which was tested on data obtained from a numerical model for 12 testing scenarios that are different in type, size, and location of the stroke. For each scenario, 10 iterations were performed. The results were shown as dependence of average permeability and conductivity values of head regions on the number of iterations. It follows that the iterative method has been successfully implemented and, as expected, is significantly more accurate than an uniterative way. It was tested that the algorithm detects a stroke area with a diameter of only 1 cm. The best results were by imaging permitivity, which in most cases was imaged in the fifth iteration with an error of less than 1 %.
