Sentinel 2 je družicová mise vedená Evropskou kosmickou agenturou pod programem Evropské unie Copernicus a poskytuje multi-spektrální snímky Země s vysokým rozlišením. Sentinel 2 is a satellite mission led by the European Space Agency under the European Union's Copernicus programme and provides high-resolution multi-spectral images of the Earth. Accurate cloud detection from satellite images is an important step before any scientific analysis of these images or automated processing of Sentinel-2 data. Detecting clouds in Sentinel-2 satellite images is a non-trivial task. In this paper, we describe the specification of the Sentinel-2 satellite and study the effect of clouds on the different spectral channels. Using machine learning methods, we are trying to develop an algorithm that will detect clouds from a single satellite image equally good or better than currently used algorithms. The key to this is the creation of a good training set. We form this set by subtracting two images of the same location at different points in time, where one contains clouds and the other does not. This allows us to create a mask on which we train machine learning algorithms that are equipped with combination of spectral band information and compare their ability to detect clouds.
