MĚSTSKÁ KNIHOVNA KOLÍN

Abstract

Záměrem města Kolín je vybudovat novou městskou knihovnu v srdci kolínského zámku, který postupně prochází transformací na kulturní centrum města. Nová budova městské knihovny by měla nahradit současnou knihovnu, která je umístěna v kapacitně nevyhovujících prostorách na Husově a Benešově ulici a scházejí jí kapacity nejen ke skladování knižních jednotek, ale i další prostory (studovna, učebny apod.). Nový polyfunkční blok na základech bývalých ječných půd bude sloužit jako knihovna, galerijní prostor a kulturní centrum pro setkávání všech generací. Součástí budovy je i multifunkční sál a kavárna. Koncept domu reaguje na historický kontext zámku i okolních budov a zároveň se snaží prověřit městem zadaný stavební program na určené parcele.

The intention of the city of Kolín is to build a new municipal library in the heart of the Kolín castle which is gradually undergoing transformation into a cultural centre of the city. The new building is meant to replace the current library located on Husova and Benešova streets which is inadequate when it comes to capacity, lacking the space not only to store book units but also for other common areas (study rooms and others). The new multifunctional block built on the foundations of former barns will serve as a municipal library, gallery space and cultural centre where all generations can meet. Included in the building is also a multifunctional hall and a café. The design of the building responds to the historic context of the castle and surrounding structures while trying to test the city’s commissioned building programme on the designated site.
