This paper presents the results of the first year of a two-year student research project conducted at the Department of theory and history of architecture FA CTU. Historical windows from the 1st half of the 20th century period are facing enormous pressure due to present day's strict demands regarding energy conservation and insulation, leading to their widespread disappearance on an unprecedented scale. In response to this issue, the project aims to document and catalogue such windows while attempting to categorize several main types. The paper also includes a more general summary of tendencies in evolution of windows during the period and lays out the goals for the next part of the project.
