Architekt Bohumil Böhm se řadí mezi výrazné osobnosti architektury vzniklé v době socialismu. Jeho plavecký stadion z roku 1971 si díky na svou dobu progresivnímu hyperbolickému zastřešení získal i mezinárodní věhlas. Kolektivní dům, který dokončil o pár let dříve v roce 1964, představoval vývojový mezistupeň koldomu a hotelového domu, a navíc jde o první celomontovaný bytový dům jižních Čech. To, že obě budovy stojí v Českých Budějovicích, není náhoda. Böhm pracoval pro tamní Stavoprojekt a za dobu svého působení se podílel na desítkách projektů. Mezi ně patří i dnes skoro zapomenuté okresní výbory Komunistické strany Československa.

Bohumil Bohm was an architect belonging to a group of prominent persons which formed in the era of socialism. His design of a swimming pool in 1971 gained international recognition because of the then novel hyperbolic shape which he used for the roof structure. His 'collective' house, completed a few years earlier in 1964 represented an intermediate stage in a development which moved from a multistorey block of flats to a hotel-style building. Moreover, the building was the first block of flats in South Bohemia, built using a completely prefabricated structure. It was not a coincidence that it had been situated in České Budějovice. Bohm worked for the local Stavoprojekt design office and he was involved in dozens of projects. Amongst them were the now almost forgotten buildings for the local district offices of the Czech Communist Party (KSČ).
