The paper is focused on experimental comparison of beam profiles made from welded steel, cast-iron and from fiber composites based on high-strength and high-modulus carbon fibers and epoxy resin. Three versions of composites were prepared with variation in their structure and composite lay-up. All the coupons were prepared with equal outer dimensions 130×130×1100 mm. The coupons were tested to evaluate their static stiffness using three-point bending test, by experimental modal analysis to evaluate their mode-shapes with according frequencies and damping ratio and by heating to compare their deformation under thermal loading.
