Galerie Gothard

Abstract

Vrch Gothard, na kterém je umístěna galerie, byl navštěvován od nepaměti a je silně spjat s kulturou a identitou města Hořice. Celkovým uspořádáním a úpravou okolí se místo na periferii města propojuje zpět s městem, jeho životem a kulturou. Stejně tak, jako ze země volně vystupují skulptury soch kamenosochařského parku, vystupuje i objekt galerie, který využívá masivního kamenného soklu po zaniklé Šanderově restauraci. Výstavní prostory jsou přístupné nakloněnou rampou, která se zakusuje do vrstevnic svahu, a jsou částečně situované pod zemí. V samotném soklu je umístěna kavárna, střecha objektu slouží jako vyhlídka i jako další venkovní prostor galerie. Svým tvarem a umístěním tak galerie pro významné sbírky plastik netvoří novou bariéru v parku, ale další vrstvu historie vrchu Gothard.

Gothard hill, where the gallery is located, is strongly connected with the culture and identity of Hořice. Through the overall arrangement and modification this place on the city outskirts is connected back to the city, its life and culture. In the same way that the sculptures of the park rise freely from the ground, so does the gallery, which uses a massive stone plinth from the defunct Šander restaurant. The exhibition spaces are accessible via an inclined ramp that cuts into the the slope, and are partially located underground. A cafe is located in the plinth itself, the roof of the building serves as a lookout point and another outdoor space of the gallery. With its shape and location, the gallery does not form a new barrier in the park, but another layer of the Gothard hill's history.
