Galerie na Gothardu

Abstract

Hořice, české maloměsto s velkou sochařskou tradicí. Deset minut chůze z náměstí a člověk se ocitne v přírodě. Sochařský park je místo klidu, sochy sedí v trávě a já si sednu k nim. Z vrchu Gothard vidím věž kostela, která mi připomíná, že jsem stále v Hořicích. Současná galerie plastik v sochařském parku již není schopna sloužit svému účelu. Novou galerii umisťuji do jižní části parku pod vrchol kopce Gothard. Na tomto místě ještě ve 20. století stál vyhlášený hostinec Barandov s oblíbenou tančírnou. Na tradici tohoto místa navazuji a znovu ho oživuji.

Hořice, a small Czech town with a great sculptural tradition. A ten-minute walk from the square and one finds oneself in nature. The sculpture park is a place of peace, the sculptures sit in the grass and I sit down next to them. From the top of the Gothard I can see the church tower, which reminds me that I am still in Hořice. The current gallery of sculptures in the sculpture park is no longer able to serve its purpose. I am placing the new gallery in the southern part of the park, below the top of Gothard Hill. The famous Barandov Inn with its popular dance hall still stood on this spot in the 20th century. I am continuing the tradition of this place and reviving it.
