Abstract
The thesis investigates behaviour of adhesively bonded joints exposed to elevated temperatures, ranging from 60 to 230 °C, with special focus on connections of glass and metal adherends (steel and aluminium). Theoretical part of the thesis summarizes current knowledge about glass structures, adhesive bonding and properties of different adhesives, exposed to both regular and elevated temperatures. Experimental part of the thesis contains a description and results of small scale experiments. Specimens were designed as double lap joints, bonded with adhesives Scott Bader Crestabond® M7-05 and Permabond ES5504, both in a 1 mm thick layer. Specimens were shear and thermally stressed. The results of specimens exposed to elevated temperatures were then compared to results of reference specimens, tested at 20 °C. The goal was to compare the reduction of shear strength and form of failure, typical for the joints. Last part of the thesis contains two numerical models, related to the research, created in Ansys Workbench 2019 R2 software.
