Abstract
This diploma thesis deals with the issue of publishing practice of clinical studies of new, high-risk, cardiovascular, medical devices. The main goal of the work was to analyze clinical studies in SSED documents, which are submitted to the FDA in the approval process, and the information contained in them, and then compare them with the information in peer reviewed publications. In the period 2014-2018, a total of 59 medical devices were identified that met the relevant parameters. Of the total number of 64 pivotal clinical trials, 81% were published, with a median time to publication of 2 months. In 7.7%, there was a difference between the number of patients between studies and publications, and in 15.4% there was a difference in the average age and sex of patients. Of the total of 78 primary endpoints identified in the SSED documents, 3.8% were not found in the publications. A total of 74.4% of primary endpoints had an identical result both in the SSED document and in the publication. Regression analysis did not reveal a statistically significant association between the independent variables and the publication or non-publication of the study.
