This work deals with the automatic creation of annotated data and the subsequent prediction of the surface roughness in front of the car before the car even enters the surface. Manual data annotation is very lengthy and human can make mistakes. Therefore, the quantity for the description of the surface roughness was automatically calculated from the collected data and this was subsequently associated with the photograph taken from the ride. The annotated data were used then to learn and validate the convolutional network of the ResNet-50 architecture used to predict the surface roughness in front of the car. The RC model of the car was used for the experiments, which was previously enriched with many sensors and computer electronics at CTU. With this model, a large amount of data were collected on a free ride. In this work, data from the accelerometer from the z-axis were used, which correspond to the roughness of the traversed surface and photographs collected from a camera mounted on the roof of a car model. The performed experiments showed the ability of the network to learn and predict the surface roughness on a training set on automatically annotated data. The prediction on the validation sets then almost followed the trend as in the case of the training data, but further experiments are needed for the possibility of full use of this method in practice for the prediction of surface roughness.
