The aim of this thesis is to verify and evaluate the functionality and risks of the design of natural fire ventilation of protected escape routes. The work deals mainly with the ventilation of openings in the highest and the entry level, focusing on the underground part of the escape route. The first half of the thesis is dedicated to basic terms of fire ventilation, general knowledge in fire issues, physical laws and legislative requirements. The second half of the thesis deals with possible problems that may occur during the design of ventilation of protected escape routes. To verify the effectiveness of natural fire ventilation of protected escape routes was developed CFD model in FDS. The model of this example is a high-rise block from the 70s of the 20th century with an interior staircase layout. The model simulate the same conditions of the real situation and this way to verify the safety of the evacuation of people by protected escape routes type A with fire ventilation based on so-called chimney effect.
