Abstract
Decommissioning of nuclear installations is a long term issue. Related radioactive materials and contaminated equipment are processed by various methods and decontamination agents to reduce their radioactivity and aiming to release them into environment or store them permanently at the minimum possible costs and risks. During decontamination large volumes of secondary waste are created, and therefore the recycling of decontamination solutions is desirable and frequently introduced. The aim of the theoretical part was to summarize information on the recycling methods used in the industry for the treatment of decontamination solutions of various compositions with a focus on electrochemical methods and the evaluation of the efficiency of these methods with regard to the input conditions and composition of the solution. An electrolytic system for recycling solutions containing sulphates / peroxodisulfates and corrosion products from stainless steels was proposed. In the experimental part, this system was tested in the basic configuration and with the model solution. The experiments carried out showed the formation of a strong oxidizing agent, which is most likely peroxodisulfate.
